RWA Exhibition

This RWA exhibition is on till the end of December
I took a few sneaky shots - not sure if you're allowed to.
Unfortunately I don't know the names of most of the artists. 


  

This is the inside of a large many-sided structure

Forerunner of the Bristol pound?

Striking picture. Don't know who it's by. Something about memory? Is there a face there?

I think this is called "Burnt Stubble". 

Sculpture Figure with shoes instead of a head.

DJ Derek. Famous Bristol DJ. I've seen a few artistic representations of him over the years.

Damien Hirst. The famous artist. I don't think these are real butterfly wings. I hope not.

Mosque type building. Didn't get artist's name.

Space Telescope

This is some sort of nebula where stars are being born. They look a bit like camels holding sparklers.




Jonathan Jones wrote in the Guardian about the photographs from space being the best art around in these days.

Some snaps from the arts trail weekend.

 I didn't get round to a lot of things and didn't take that many photos, but here's a few.

Rainy Day. 

This seemed appropriate as it was a showery weekend. 

This and the paintings below were done by children at Whitehall primary school.

More children's paintings. The Royals, I think.

Matisse Exhibition, Winchester

Winchester Library currently have an exhibition of Matisse's cut paper collages. He made these towards the end of his life in the early 1950s. They were made by cutting designs out of painted paper.

My Comment: Claude Monet was a great painter but he has made a basic error here. Can you spot what it is? Yes, he's made the man's head far too big compared to his body. Unless he really knew someone who looked like that.

Henri Cartier Bresson was a French photographer.
Amy's painting of a man jumping in a puddle reminded me of this.

Arnolfini

This is a detail from the current exhibition at the Arnolfini.
Don't know the name of the artists.

Gesso

Gesso is a chalky substance used to prime surfaces before painting in acrylic or oils. It makes colours more vivid as they don't soak into the surface as quickly.
